Gate
Cuts the silence. Keeps the hits.
WHAT IT DOES
A gate stays closed (silent) until the input crosses a threshold, then snaps open. Use it to remove bleed between drum hits or to shape long sustains into stutters.
HOW IT WORKS
Set THRESHOLD just above the noise floor. Anything quieter is muted; anything louder passes. ATTACK opens, RELEASE closes.

COMMON MISTAKES
- ✗ Threshold so high it kills soft hits
- ✗ Release too fast — chatters
- ✗ Using gate where editing would be cleaner
