Scenes & Follow Actions
Make clips play themselves.
A Scene launches a row. Follow Actions launch the future.

// WHAT IT DOES
A Scene is a row of clips you launch together — perfect for sections like 'Verse 1' or 'Drop'.
Follow Actions tell a clip 'when you finish, jump here next'. Use them to chain clips into evolving patterns without touching MIDI.
Think of it like → Scenes are your set list. Follow Actions are an autopilot that knows the next song.
▸ WHY YOU CARE
- • Sections snap perfectly into place mid-jam.
- • Generative loops keep moving without you clicking anything.
// SEE & HEAR IT
BAR 1/4
| SCENE | DRUMS | BASS | CHORDS | LEAD |
|---|---|---|---|---|
▸ HOW IT WORKS
Scene click → schedules every clip in row → Quantize → launch. Follow Action timer counts clip length → rolls dice → triggers next clip.
▸ Signal flow — watch the dot
▸ SIGNAL FLOW
Glowing dot = your signal travelling through Live.
▸ LISTEN FOR
- • Tempo change at the bar boundary on scene launch.
▸ WALKTHROUGH (3 steps)
- 1. DO: Rename a Scene to '90 BPM'.▸ LISTEN: Tempo jumps when the scene launches.
- 2. DO: Set a clip Follow Action to 'Next' with chance 1:0.▸ LISTEN: Clip auto-advances to the next slot when it finishes.
- 3. DO: Set both A=Other (1) and B=Stop (1).▸ LISTEN: 50/50 between random clip and silence.
▸ COMMON MISTAKES
- ✗ Naming a scene '120bpm' (no space) — Live ignores it.
- ✗ Setting Follow Action time longer than clip Length — clip restarts before action fires.
