// WHAT IT DOES

Plug in a mic or instrument. On an audio track: set Audio From to your input, arm the track (red circle), hit Record.

Set the buffer size low enough that monitoring feels instant (Preferences → Audio).

Think of it like → Like a tape recorder, but the tape is infinite and rewindable.
▸ WHY YOU CARE
  • Capture vocals, guitar, anything live — straight into your song.
  • No latency = you can perform comfortably.

// SEE & HEAR IT

▸ HOW IT WORKS

Input → Audio interface → Live input bus → Track Pre-FX → Track Devices → Mixer → Master + Disk write.

▸ Signal flow — watch the dot
▸ SIGNAL FLOW
MicINPUTInterfacePROCESSTrack InputGAINDevicesSENDDisk + MasterOUT
Glowing dot = your signal travelling through Live.
▸ LISTEN FOR
  • Monitor delay should be under 10 ms at 256-sample buffer.
▸ WALKTHROUGH (3 steps)
  1. 1. DO: Set Audio From → Ext. In 1.
    ▸ LISTEN: Meter shows level even before arming.
  2. 2. DO: Arm the track (red circle).
    ▸ LISTEN: Monitor opens — you hear yourself with FX.
  3. 3. DO: Hit Record → play.
    ▸ LISTEN: Waveform appears as you record.
▸ COMMON MISTAKES
  • Forgetting to arm — nothing recorded.
  • Monitor=In during overdubs creates feedback if speakers are loud.
