Comping
Stitch the perfect take.
Take 1 was great in the chorus. Take 4 nailed the verse. Comping = best of both.

// WHAT IT DOES
Comping lets you record multiple takes (a Take Lane per pass) then quickly assemble the best parts into one clean clip.
Right-click an audio track → Show Take Lanes. Record several passes; highlight the winning regions; Live builds the comp.
Think of it like → Like editing a video — pick the best shot from each take, stitch into one cut.
▸ WHY YOU CARE
- • Get a perfect vocal without one perfect take.
- • Edit by ear instead of by waveform.

MASTER VOL
▶ PLAY to hear it. Mute/solo tracks while playing. Click & drag the bottom lane to draw master-volume automation — it shapes the playback level live.
▸ HOW IT WORKS
Each pass → Take Lane. Selection on a lane → promoted to main. Live auto-crossfades at boundaries.
▸ Signal flow — watch the dot
▸ SIGNAL FLOW
Glowing dot = your signal travelling through Live.
▸ LISTEN FOR
- • Crossfades hide the joins — listen for any clicks (extend the fade if needed).
▸ WALKTHROUGH (3 steps)
- 1. DO: Right-click track → Show Take Lanes. Loop a 4-bar section. Hit Record 4x.▸ LISTEN: Each pass lands on its own lane.
- 2. DO: Highlight the winning region on Take 1.▸ LISTEN: It promotes to the main lane.
- 3. DO: Repeat across takes.▸ LISTEN: Final comp plays as one seamless take.
▸ COMMON MISTAKES
- ✗ Forgetting to enable Show Take Lanes — passes overwrite each other.
- ✗ Comping by waveform instead of by ear.
