// WHAT IT DOES

MIDI Effects sit BEFORE an instrument and transform the notes: chord, arpeggio, scale, random, pitch.

Drop Chord on a track → play one note → hear three.

Think of it like → A translator that rephrases what you play before the instrument hears it.
▸ WHY YOU CARE
  • Build chord progressions live without playing all the notes.
  • Snap any wrong notes into a chosen scale.

▸ HOW IT WORKS

MIDI in → MIDI FX (transform notes) → Instrument → Audio out.

▸ Signal flow — watch the dot
▸ SIGNAL FLOW
MIDIINPUTMIDI FXPROCESSInstrumentGAINAudioOUT
Glowing dot = your signal travelling through Live.
▸ LISTEN FOR
  • Chord device adds the intervals you set, no fewer, no more.
▸ WALKTHROUGH (3 steps)
  1. 1. DO: Drop Chord on a MIDI track. Set +4 and +7 semitones.
▸ LISTEN: Single note plays as a triad.
  2. 2. DO: Add Arpeggiator → Style Up, Rate 1/16.
▸ LISTEN: Triad arpeggiates at 1/16 notes.
  3. 3. DO: Add Scale → C Minor.
▸ LISTEN: Wrong notes snap into key.
▸ COMMON MISTAKES
  • Putting MIDI FX after the instrument — they do nothing.
  • Forgetting Scale device snaps EVERY note, including ones you wanted out of key.
