EQ Eight

Shape every frequency.

Eight bands. The fastest way to surgical or sweeping tone shaping.

+70 XP🏅 Frequency Fox

// WHAT IT DOES

EQ Eight boosts or cuts specific frequencies. Low end (20–200 Hz) = bass/kick. Mids (200–3 kHz) = body. Highs (3–20 kHz) = air and clarity.

Drag a band point → boost up, cut down. Hold Q to widen or narrow the slope.

Think of it like → Like spice on food — a little where it's missing, never everywhere.
▸ WHY YOU CARE
  • Carve space for vocals — cut where they sit on the kick.
  • Make muddy tracks tight by trimming low-mid build-up around 200–500 Hz.

WHAT CHANGED
  • Defaults — toggle A/B or load a preset to hear the device.
WHAT TO LISTEN FOR
  • Sweep MID FREQ with +12 dB Q=8 — that screech reveals problem frequencies.
  • A/B with B button: subtractive EQ should make the source clearer, not louder.
  • Boomy lows on chord pad? Cut LOW -8 dB.
HOW TO USE
Press PLAY → tap a PRESET → toggle A/B to compare dry vs processed. Twist knobs to hear how each parameter changes the sound.

▸ HOW IT WORKS

Audio → 8 biquad filters in series → output. Each band is a textbook IIR bell/shelf/cut.

▸ LISTEN FOR
  • 200–500 Hz cuts unmuddy almost everything.
  • 10 kHz shelf adds 'air' to vocals and cymbals.
▸ WALKTHROUGH (3 steps)
  1. 1. DO: Drop EQ Eight on a vocal. Drag band 4 down at 250 Hz by 4 dB.
▸ LISTEN: Vocal loses muddiness, gains clarity.
  2. 2. DO: Switch band 8 to High Shelf, +3 dB at 10 kHz.
    ▸ LISTEN: Air, sparkle.
  3. 3. DO: Switch to M/S mode → cut Side at 80 Hz.
▸ LISTEN: Bass becomes mono and tight.
▸ COMMON MISTAKES
  • Boosting where you should cut.
  • Forgetting Q — narrow Q = surgical, wide Q = musical.
