// WHAT IT DOES
The Browser (left side) is your library. Sounds, Drums, Instruments, Audio Effects, MIDI Effects, Samples, and your own folders all live here.
Click anything once → preview it. Drag it onto a track → it's in your song.
Think of it like → Like a record crate that auto-plays the needle the moment you touch a sleeve.
▸ WHY YOU CARE
- • You stop hunting through Finder and start auditioning sounds in seconds.
- • Adding your own folders means your whole sample library is one click away.
// SEE & HEAR IT
- Bass · Sub Pluckdrag →
- Lead · Acid Sawdrag →
- Pad · Glass Choirdrag →
- Keys · Soft Rhodesdrag →
▸ HOW IT WORKS
Browser → Preview engine → Drag target. Selecting a file streams it through Live's preview bus; dragging copies a reference into your set.
▸ Signal flow — watch the dot
▸ SIGNAL FLOW
Glowing dot = your signal travelling through Live.
▸ LISTEN FOR
- • Preview locks to your project BPM automatically.
- • Hot-swap auditions through the device, including its FX.
▸ WALKTHROUGH (3 steps)
- 1. DO: Click any audio file in Samples.▸ LISTEN: It previews in tempo with your set.
- 2. DO: Drag it onto an empty track.▸ LISTEN: A clip appears, warped to the project tempo.
- 3. DO: Click the orange ⇄ on a Drum Rack pad, then arrow up/down.▸ LISTEN: The pad swaps samples live.
▸ COMMON MISTAKES
- ✗ Forgetting to click the headphone icon — preview is muted.
- ✗ Dragging a single hit onto a MIDI track (you want a Simpler instead — drag onto a MIDI track and Live offers it).
