Arrangement View

The timeline.

The timeline. Where ideas become a finished song.

// WHAT IT DOES

Arrangement View is the linear timeline — left to right, just like every other DAW. Clips, automation and edits live on tracks that play from start to finish.

You can record straight into Arrangement, or record what you jam in Session and the result lands here as audio/MIDI clips.

Think of it like → Session is brainstorming on sticky notes. Arrangement is the final essay.
▸ WHY YOU CARE
  • Build the actual song: intro, verse, chorus, drop, outro.
  • Edit precisely — chop, fade, automate every parameter to the millisecond.

▶ PLAY to hear it. Mute/solo tracks while playing. Click & drag the bottom lane to draw master-volume automation — it shapes the playback level live.

▸ HOW IT WORKS

Tracks → clips → automation/modulation lanes → mixer → master. Playhead reads left to right; loop brace can constrain playback.

▸ SIGNAL FLOW

Glowing dot = your signal travelling through Live.
▸ LISTEN FOR
  • Arrangement and Session can be at odds — orange triangle tells you so.
  • Loop brace lights orange when active.
▸ WALKTHROUGH (3 steps)
  1. 1. DO: Hit Arrangement Record (top transport), then play.
▸ LISTEN: Live records both played notes and launched Session clips.
  2. 2. DO: Drag the loop brace and click it on.
▸ LISTEN: Playback loops within the brace.
  3. 3. DO: Click 'Back to Arrangement' (orange triangle).
▸ LISTEN: Arrangement clips resume control.
▸ COMMON MISTAKES
  • Forgetting Session clips override Arrangement until you click the orange triangle.
  • Recording without arming the track — nothing captured.
