// WHAT IT DOES

When you record a drum kit with 8 microphones, every mic captures the same performance from a different position. If you want to cut a section, you need to make the exact same cut on all 8 tracks — otherwise the drums fall out of sync. Linked-Track Editing does this automatically. Select the tracks you want to link, enable linking, and any edit you make on one track happens on all of them at the same time.

Think of it like → Linked editing is like editing a multi-layer document where all layers move together — pull one corner and all layers resize.
▸ WHY YOU CARE
  • Multi-mic recordings, stems, and layered performances all need to stay in sync — linked editing is the only way to do that without manually duplicating every edit.
  • It's also useful for linked automation — editing the length of a clip automatically adjusts all linked automation.

▸ COMMON MISTAKES
  • Linking tracks that have intentional timing offsets (e.g., delay throws) — linking destroys the offset relationship
  • Forgetting tracks are linked when doing creative edits — check linked status before any structural edit
