Instrument Rack

Stack, layer, split, morph.

Stack instruments. Split the keyboard. Layer a string pad under your lead. All at once.

// WHAT IT DOES

An Instrument Rack lets you combine multiple instruments into one. You can layer a pad underneath a piano so both play whenever you press a key. Or split the keyboard so your left hand plays bass (Wavetable) while your right plays chords (Poli) — all on one track. Up to 16 macro knobs control parameters across all chains simultaneously.

Think of it like → An Instrument Rack is like an orchestra section — many players, one conductor (the macro knobs), all reading from the same score (the MIDI notes you play).
▸ WHY YOU CARE
  • Professional synth sounds are almost always layered — the 'single patch' that sounds huge is usually 3-4 instruments summed together.
  • Keyboard splits let one MIDI controller drive a complete live performance setup from a single track.
  • Macros let you control multiple parameters across multiple instruments with one knob.

▸ LISTEN FOR
  • The 'thickness' of a layered patch vs its individual components played alone
  • How crossfading between chains differs from a simple crossfade in the mixer
▸ COMMON MISTAKES
  • Forgetting each chain's MIDI FX are independent — put Scale before the Rack, not inside chains, if you want it global
  • Overlapping key zones accidentally — two chains playing the same notes both consume CPU and can phase
